Having our friends come out to support us and celebrate the launch of the Baybayin Flash Cards was incredible. Not only was it a fun and exciting day with our favorite people, but it also provided us with a relatively low-pressure preview of any future hosting opportunities we’ll have. Next time we’ll have a better idea of what to expect and what details we need to be thinking about and what to plan for. This rings especially true for any future Baybayin workshops. We held a test run for Francis’ workshop at the party for our friends and we got to see the card games and the exercises using the Baybayin chart in action.
All in all, the day was not only fun, but very insightful and valuable for us, especially as a team that’s still learning how to run this very new business. We can’t thank our friends enough for coming and making the launch party an early success that The Gartden Team can now look back at proudly. I’m beyond excited to see what’s next for us.
Cheers,
Arlene Oriel
Thank you everyone who came to my first ever Baybayin workshop! We hosted this workshop towards the end of our launch party for Baybayin Flash Cards.
Everyone had a blast at the party. We had 3 games, and people won some Baybayin Flash Cards as prizes!
Overall, the workshop went well. Initially I was worried that it would be difficult for people to understand, but everyone did great. Upon reflection, I will explain in further detail how to read and write Baybayin. This will help in the later portions of the workshop.
I hope everyone had a blast at the first Baybayin workshop! Thank you all for the feedback. Please checkout Balay Kreative for the next workshop!

Thank you to The Gartden team for all your hard work and efforts during the launch party!
Best regards,
Francis Garcia

The creation of the Baybayin Flashcards is just the beginning of something big. I am so proud to be a part of this story and can’t wait to see what happens next.
At the beginning of August, I started making plans to throw a pool party for friends and said “wow, why not make this a launch party for the Baybayin flashcards, we’re going to have to do it anyway!” So we made an invitation to all of our closest friends. I was worried, maybe overstepping some weird professional/personal boundary by adding a workshop to our party itinerary.
I had a great and exciting time planning and hosting, being surrounded by the people that love and support each other. We had some fun games and laughs. Throughout the party, we had everyone write down a question for reasons unknown, and later brought the questions out and used them during our hot wings challenge. I appreciate that so many people joined in on this, we even ran out of chicken wings! We heard so many genuine answers, learned more about each other, and built stronger connections.
We held the workshop around 6 PM. We didn't think everyone would join in, but they did! I remember thinking in the days prior “I don't think I need to make more than 20 copies of these worksheets and reference sheets…” We had our pens and scratch paper ready. We missed a cue for when to hand out a specific worksheet, but that’s ok! This was a time we were able to show everyone the new flashcards and see how we can utilize this new learning tool. That’s what practice with friends and family is for, to give ourselves grace.
Special shout out to my uncle and aunt, Tito Rolex and Mercedes, for letting us host such a fun event and workshop at their lovely home.
Another special shoutout to Joe's Taco Shop and Catering (not sponsored lol)! I've experienced their food and customer service twice now, they are amazing and can't wait to use their services again.
Thank you so much to our friends and family for allowing us to practice this big step in our lives with you all.
Thank you to everyone who has subscribed to our blog/newsletter. We are still navigating this new frontier and are excited to post some more!
I am excited to host more events and activities to bring everyone together.
Take care,
Andrea Pilapil
